Skamper-Ramp® Announces New Improved Skamper-Ramp Big Dog™
Charleston, SC (PRWeb) February 13, 2007 -- Skamper-Ramp® dba Skamper Industries, LLC manufacturer of the Skamper-Ramp® is a company devoted to pet safety (http://www.skamper-ramp.com/pool-perils). The company, which produces a patented water-escape device for animals, announces the introduction of a new, improved Skamper-Ramp Big Dog™.
This water safety device, designed to prevent pets from drowning (http://www.skamper-ramp.com/info), is a larger version of the Skamper-Ramp and provides a safe, less stressful way for pets over 45 lbs. to exit a pool or for any size animal to get back on most docks and some boats.
Dedicated to pet safety, the company has worked over the past year to improve the design of the Skamper-Ramp Big Dog and will officially debut it to the pet industry at the Global Pet Expo in Orlando in late February 2007 (http://www.globalpetexpo.org).
According to Jay Waddell, Managing Partner of the company, the new ramp has longer wings than the previous version. The side wings now run the entire length of the main ramp. The overall length of the new Skamper-Ramp Big Dog is now 39", with the extension attaching to the main ramp body closer to the pool-side end. This contributes to greater overall strength and rigidity of the device for larger dogs as they exit the pool or climb back onto a dock or aboard a boat.
The ramp is now completely constructed of 10mm box-corrugated polypropylene (previously the main body was 8mm) increasing the overall strength-to-weight ratio. Polypropylene is a highly durable, robust and strong plastic that is chemical- and UV-resistant as well as cost-effective. It works because the ramp is white--the one color all living things can see. Carrie Agnew, a partner and the marketing director for the company, points out that Skamper-Ramp gives pet owners and animal lovers with a means of safeguarding against unnecessary pet-panic in the water or death due to drowning. She says "It provides pet owners and animal lovers alike with peace-of-mind since it provides pet safety by allowing animals to safely exit the water on their own, without any assistance. This is an important attribute we've found to be of tremendous importance to pet owners! Pets are often considered important family members who need the same protection as children." Because Skamper Industries is devoted to pet safety and specifically pet water safety in pools, it is a member of the APPMA (American Pet Products Manufacturers Association), PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), APSP (Association of Pool and Spa Professionals) and an IPG (Independent Pool Group-Canada) product associate.
Skamper-Ramp was honored twice as one of the "Top 50 Readers Choice Products" by Pool & Spa Magazine readers (2004 and 2006) and selected as one of the "10 Lowcountry Innovators" by the Charleston Regional Business Journal.
The ramp is endorsed by veterinarians across the United States and has been featured on a number of national television programs. It was one of only 11 products chosen to be included in the nationally syndicated Animal Radio show segment recorded during the SuperZoo pet show in Las Vegas last September. The product is also slated to appear on an upcoming HGTV Outdoor Living special.
