Bay Colony Dog Show Raises The Woof of the Bayside Expo, Boston December 6-9, 2007

Boston, Mass. (PRWEB) November 7, 2007 -- The Bay Colony Dog Show, one of the country's largest American Kennel Club dog events, is back at the Bayside for four days of tail-wagging fun. The show runs Thursday, December 6 through Sunday, December 9, 2007 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Sponsored by PEDIGREE brand dog foods, The Bay Colony Cluster Dog Show showcases an average of 2,000 pedigree pooches each day competing for "Best In Show" honors and AKC titles after winning within their respective breeds and groups. The Bay Colony Dog Show is organized and run by volunteers from Eastern Dog Club, Ladies' Dog Club, Middlesex County Kennel Club, Shrewsbury Dog Training Club, and Yankee Golden Retriever Club.

Each day, approximately 10,000 people will cheer on 155 AKC-registered dog breeds, from popular cocker spaniels and golden retrievers to newly-recognized American Kennel Club (AKC) breeds like the Tibetan Mastiff and the Plott. Every day offers a unique mix of events, and each day of the show is presented by a different prestigious AKC dog club with each show awarding one "Best in Show" trophy. On all four days, spectators can watch dogs of all shapes and sizes participate in the fast-paced agility trials, timed competitive events where dogs race through obstacles competing for AKC titles. On Friday and Saturday, Ladies' Dog Club and Shrewsbury Dog Training Club offer obedience competitions in a variety of classes.

The Bay Colony Dog Show also offers "backstage tours" with reservations, a great way to experience the show behind the scenes and watch the nation's top dogs prepare for the ring. Dog lovers will be in holiday shopping heaven with high-quality concession booths displaying every type of gift imaginable for pampered pooches. Beyond traditional items, the show offers hand-knitted sweaters, specialty apparel, professional grooming and cleaning supplies, pet exercise equipment, digital photography, gourmet treats, handmade toys, safety products, bedding, fine jewelry and dog antiques, and pet services. If you are looking for information about a particular breed before making the big leap to dog ownership, public service booths provide information about getting started in dog shows, breeder referrals, dog-related volunteer opportunities and careers, and adoption programs.

A registered nonprofit organization, the Bay Colony Dog Show ticket proceeds benefit such charities as the Scholarship Fund at Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine, Breeder Referral Services and Angell Memorial Animal Hospital. Admission is $12 for adults and seniors, and $7 for children. Parking is $12 and tickets available for purchase at the Bayside box office only. Visit http://www.baycolonydogshow.com for ring schedules after Thanksgiving. The show's recorded event hotline is 508-533-1153. Sorry, the public may not bring their pet dog to the show. The Bayside Exposition Center is handicapped and MBTA accessible (Red Line, JFK/UMASS stop), and is located off Rte. 93 South (exit 15 from the south; exit 14 from Rte. 93 North). The Bayside Exposition Center is located at 200 Mount Vernon St., Dorchester, MA 02125.
